Club Kid and Heatherette Founder, Richie Rich

Born Richard J. Eichhorn on November 10 1970 in California; Rich started out as a figure skater touring with the Ice Capades. In 1993 he moved to New York City, where he became a recognizable face of night life due to his associations with Amanda Lapore and Susanne Bartch. In an interview he did with Karmaloop TV in 2008 he told he said that both he and Amanda Lapore were drug free during his club kid days, saying “I was already crazy.”

By the mid 90’s he was being featured as a club kid on The Joan Rivers show, Geraldo and Phil Donahue. He also released two singles, MAGIC and Collision which he performed while touring Europe and Japan.

Heatherette was founded in 1999 an premiered in 2001 at a runway for New York Fashion week and a collaboration with Mac cosmetics; launched after he met his future co-designer Traver Rains. He said “Heatherette came out of a bottle of red wine and a great Grace Jones song, Leatherette.” The brand took off after being sported by the likes of Paris Hilton, Patricia Field and the Back Street Boys.

Heatherette had many top models and celebrities walking their runways including, Naomi Campbell, Paris Hilton, Boy George and Kelly Osbourne and has been featured in dozens of magazines including Vogue, GQ, Vanity Fair and Rolling Stone.

In 2001 Rich appeared in the movie Zoolander, Playing the Derelicte doorman. He then he had a cameo in the 2003 film Party Monster, in which he played him self. Karmaloop TV asked Ritch if they had got party monster right. Ritchie responded, ” No, I mean I think the movie definitely is a little too dark.. It’s interesting, I have friends who love the movie, when I met Nicole Ritchie she freaked out, she’s like “it’s my favorite movie.” and I was kind of like, why?”

Richie went on to appear in the film One Last Thing in 2005 and My Super Ex Girlfriend in 2006. Ritchie also has a slew of TV credits including, Basketball Wives, The Anna Nicole Show, The Tonight Show, The Tyra Banks Show and The Today Show.

Heatherette went defunct in 2008 after the two design partners parted ways. In 2010 and 2011 Rich went on to design 2 new collections with former business partner Keri Ingvarsson, called Popluxe, (which had a guest runway appearance by Ellen DeGeneres) and Villionaire. He also launched a fashion tour with Pamela Anderson called A*muse.
